Mäkelänrinne Swimming Centre, Helsinki
The Mäkelänrinne Swimming Centre is the first swimming facility in Finland that meets international standards. It serves all customer groups equally, from those swimming just for the exercise or for fun, to competitive swimmers, acrobatic divers, synchronised swimmers and water-polo players, not forgetting handicapped customers or children, either. Pools: q The main pool contains a 10-track exercise and competition pool which is 2 m deep, 25 m wide and 50 m long. The start end is equipped with fixed starting blocks and provision for automatic timing. The pool can be divided into 2–4 parts according to the purpose of use, with a bridge that consists of two sections. The pool is also equipped with a detachable intermediate floor which is used in various hydrobics events and which enhances the versatility of the pool. Mäkelänrinne in numbers: Competition pool - 50 m - 10 lanes 2 m deep, modifiable by two moveable bulkheads Diving pool - 25 m - 6 lanes 5 m deep, 1 platforms 10 m, 5 springboards Leisure pool - 168 m2 2 Children`s pools 142 m2 and 35 m2 2 Cold water pools 8 Saunas Water volume: 6000 m3 (6 000 000 l) all pools combined Main pool facility: The diving pool which is 25 m x 16.5 m in size and 5 m deep, is equipped with compete diving platforms and springboards, as well as with so-called bubble devices and surface breakers. The pool has 6 tracks, each 2.5 m wide, that can be used as warming-up tracks in swimming competitions. The diving pool is also used by synchronised swimmers. Leisure pool section: The leisure pool sections contains a children’s pool, a non-swimmers’ pool and warm-water pools. The pools are equipped with various underwater massage points, a bottom whirlbench and a water bell. The warm-water pools can be used for hydrobics and baby-swimming. |
